Photographic Artist Association of Korea (“PAAK”) was established in 1945 under the guidance of Baek-O Hae-Sun Lee (白烏 李海善) with
pure motive in promoting photography in artistic form. For around 70 years, PAAK has played a leading role in Korea to advance photography
even during turbulent times. PAAK went as far as holding exhibitions in Busan during the Korean War.
Through sweats and efforts, PAAK produced many distinguished and talented photographers.
Currently, PAAK is headquartered in Seoul with nine regional branches throughout the nation including Busan, Chungju, Daecheon, Daegu, Daejeon, Hanbat, Ulsan, Miryang, and Cheongju.
These branches are active in working in harmony to host diverse events and various development activities. As a result, PAAK has been promoting skinship between the members and providing venue for artists to develop their creativity.
Notwithstanding the current success and establishment of PAAK, our members strive to shape the future of photography by challenging themselves to adapt to the rapid change in societal and cultural values.
For the years to come, we will continue to be a leader to further advancing individuals’ creativity and skill sets, and Korea’s photography as a whole. Lastly, we look forward to welcoming new and existing members to endure the legacy that PAAK has built.
Kim, Ho-Young
President of Photographic Artist Association of Korea
